We test your dosimeters for drift and send them back re-zeroed.
Send in your pen dosimeter(s) for re-zeroing and monitoring of any ‘excessive’ drift over a 2 day period. Each dosimeter is checked for permitted drift up to 5% over a 48h period, (2.5% permitted drift per day as per ANSI N322 Guidelines). After the 2 day monitoring your dosimeter(s) will again be re-zeroed and posted back to you.
Buyer pays for shipping to Radiation Readiness.
Free return shipping.
Please note we will hold your dosimeter(s) for roughly 5 days. As per the charging instructions, dosimeters must be ‘primed’ before use. They should have an initial charge for about 24hrs before being re-zeroed again and then monitored for drift.
This service is limited to the testing of 5 dosimeters. If you require more please contact Radiation Readiness.
Dosimeters must be western made i.e. UK, USA, Canadian, German.
If your dosimeter is found to be non functional i.e. (does not re-zero, drifts over the permitted amount) you will be notified. You will be provided with the option to replace your non functional dosimeter with one that is within spec at a reduced price. All replacement dosimeters will be calibrated Stephen’s 200 Centigray pen dosimeters. All original dosimeters sent to us will be returned along with the replacements.
Do note however, that depending on how quickly your dosimeter leaks, as per FEMA guidelines, they can still be used by subtracting the leak rate from the final measurement. Theoretically a 200 R dosimeter with a leak rate as high as 50% per 24h still has a usable range of 100 R in that 24h period.
Ship your dosimeter(s) in a secure and padded box/envelope along with your return address, phone number/email and a copy of having made payment (checkout name/ order number). The shipping address will be emailed to you.
Do not be alarmed if your dosimeter has drifted during its time in the post. While we re-zero them before shipping, they will eventually drift, some quicker than others. If you require your dosimeters to remain zeroed or want the ability to re-zero them conveniently, we recommend you purchase your own dosimeter charger. This service is to monitor and guarantee they hold a charge and do not drift excessively. If you want to verify your dosimeters function correctly in the presence of radiation we may be able to accommodate.
