Choice Of 2 Different Probes
489-110B αβγ Pancake Probe (Fitted with a NOS LND 7311 GM Tube) (3,300 CPM per 1 mR/h for Cs-137)
CDV-700 6993 Pickle/Hot Dog Probe (6993 GM Tube) (720 CPM per 1 mR/h for Co-60/Cs-137) Energy compensated Geiger-Mueller (GM) probe - rotating beta shield to distinguish beta and gamma radiation
*This Victoreen 290 is Calibrated for the 491-40/CDV-700 6993 or any other Energy Compensated GM tube with a 720 CPM to 1 mR/h ratio. The 489-110B Pancake or similar probe will only yield accurate readings on the CPM scale or COUNT setting. If accurate Dose Rates are desirable then probe 2 or 3 is necessary.
Features:
Battery Check
Dose Reset
Switch Between mR/h Dose Rate to CPM Count Setting (any probe can be used independent of the Dose Rate Calibration when used in the Count setting).
Switch Between Rate and Dose (switch between cpm Rate or mR/h Rate and accumulated Dose or counts).
Alarm Function (alarm activated when the rate or dose exceeds the set multiplier).
Carrying handle
Dust and water resistant *if you cover those holes
Audio is via internal speaker
MHV Connector (some BNC cables may fit)
*** This particular model has been cleaned and refurbished from bad battery corrosion.
A brand new battery holder has been installed, the battery terminals rewired and the tray has been secured with electrical tape as seen in the photos.
Circuit board and insides cleaned to the best of my ability, residual dust and or corrosion may be seen (one of the metal legs in-between the circuit boards).
New rubber seal around the meter face has been fitted.
Glue applied under the sticker near the base of the MHV connector.
Areas inside of the detector base have been cleaned and repainted, battery cushions have been reapplied.
General cleaning and maintenance.
4 small holes on the side of the base are probably from a once placed Ludlum check source holder, these holes could be covered over with tape or some sort of sealant or better yet with another Ludlum Check Source Holder.
Civil Defense Sticker and Cover for the Pancake Probe included
*Red check source disc, Ludlum Model 3 (available soon) and or Automess not included, used for demonstration purposes only.
